KRIGSARKIVET The Krigsarkivet is located in the centre of Stockholm. With 30 employees, it has over 70 kilometres of documents on file, from 800,000 to 900,000 maps and plans, over 200,000 books and 600,000 photographs, besides digital archives. The oldest documents date from 1530.

With regards to the scale of its contents, it is estimated that the Krigsarkivet is the third largest archive in Scandinavia, after the national archives of Sweden and Denmark. The Krigsarkivet receives documentation from all the institutions belonging to the Swedish Ministry of Defence: the armed forces and their chiefs of staff, the navy, the army and the air force, but also other agencies which are also concerned with issues related to defence.
